Lately I've been taking a lot of my inspiration from the Death & Co cocktail book. Though there are a few "fussy" cocktails in their repertoire, and I may be missing a bottle or two that they use, most of their recipes are easy to follow and delicious.
With porch cocktail weather upon us, the wife and I tend to shift more to lighter, refreshing cocktails then the higher octane, sipping ones. So when I came across the Fitzgerald and the Ramble, I knew they'd be perfect for tonight. These fairly new cocktails (if you consider the 1980's and 1990's new) require everyday ingredients that you probably have on hand. They can be ready in just a few minutes leaving more time to enjoy the outdoors. So let's cut to the chase and make tonight's quintessential 4-ingredient cocktails.
His Cocktail - Fitzgerald
2 oz Plymouth Gin
3/4 oz Fresh lemon juice
1 oz Simple syrup (I used 3/4 oz)
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Lemon twist garnish
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice add all ingredients. Shake until chilled. Strain into a double rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish.
Her Cocktail - Ramble
2 oz Plymouth gin
1 oz Fresh lemon juice
1 1/4 oz Simple syrup (She used 3/4 oz)
3 Raspberries
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the gin, lemon juice 1/2 oz simple syrup. Shake until chilled. Strain into a double rocks glass filled with crushed ice. In your empty cocktail shaker add the remaining simple syrup and the raspberries. Muddle together. Pour on top of your cocktail. Add a straw.
Happy Drinking!
