His & Hers Cocktails - Frozen Easter Sour: College Radio

His & Hers Cocktails - Frozen Easter Sour: College Radio

Once in a blue moon, will the wife and I find one cocktail that we both agree on.  This is one of the few.  It's not overly boozy, slightly sweet, refreshing and very easy to drink.  Not to mention, this tiki(ish) drink is a cinch to whip up in the blender.

The original recipe, created by Trader Vic, used regular oranges.  This version, from Allan Katz and Danielle Crouch, calls for Cara Cara Navel oranges.  The obvious difference is the vibrant color that the Cara Cara offers, not to mention more sweetness.  I think this is a very forgiving recipe so feel free to experiment with blood oranges, clementines, tangerines or any other variety that you fancy.

Did I mention that it's perfect for porch cocktails on these hot afternoons?!

Our Cocktail
2 oz Bourbon
3/4 oz Orgeat
3/4 oz Fresh lemon juice
4 Cara Cara orange supremes (how to video)
Dash Angostura bitters
Orange peel twist garnish

Combine all ingredients in a blender with 16oz of crushed ice.  Blend to combine and pour into your glass of choice.  Add a dash or two of bitters and garnish.

Happy Drinking!
