Mardi Gras isn't complete without consuming at least one Hurricane. If you've ever visited New Orleans then I'm sure you've been lured into Pat O'Brien's for one of their deliciously, colorful Hurricanes. Hopefully, you didn't make the same mistake as I did, and consume one too many. What certainly made for a fun night out on the town wasn't as fun the next morning. Now you can blame it on the alcohol, but I blame it on the sugar content of the drink. With that said, you can purchase the powdered or liquid Hurricane mix from Pat O'Brien's here, to make at home. Personally, I like making them at home, with my own ingredients. It's not quite the same, but at least I can control the quality of the ingredients.
A fun side note on Pat O'Brien's, it was know as Mr. O'Brien's Club Tipperary during Prohibition. In order to gain entry to the club, you needed to know the password, "storm's brewin."
