His & Hers Cocktails - Pina Del Sol/The Gamechanger

Today's cocktails were based on: 1) slightly missing South Carolina  2) For me, it's hot enough in Mississippi right now that you'd think we're vacationing in the tropics.  3)For the wife, it's too cold in Mississippi right now and she's dreaming that we were vacationing in the tropics.  Which ever statement you agree with, get ready because we're bringing the islands to ya!

These tropical libations come to us from rivalry bbq joints in Charleston, SC.  I'm sure there's a story about how these cocktails came to be, but I'm not aware of any.   If one you happen to know, feel free to share.  What I do know, is that the wife and I both prefer the bbq from  Lewis' BBQ over Hometeam BBQ but it's a draw when it comes to the cocktails.  

Just a little side note:  Cream of coconut and Coconut cream are not interchangeable.  Cream of coconut is a very sweet, syrupy liquid (think pina colada) while coconut cream is a very thick, unsweet cream. 

His Cocktail - The Gamechanger (Hometeam BBQ)
2 oz Gold Rum
1/2 oz Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum
2 1/2 oz Fresh squeezed orange juice
1 1/2 oz Pineapple juice
1/2 oz Cream of coconut
Freshly grated nutmeg for garnish

Add first five ingredients to a blender with ice.  Blend until smooth.  Pour into a glass, garnish with nutmeg.

Her Cocktail - Pina Del Sol (Lewis BBQ)
1 1/2 oz Rum
1 oz Coconut Cream
1 1/2 oz Pineapple juice
1 oz Fresh squeezed orange juice
1/2 oz Agave nectar
Pineapple wedge for garnish

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, all first five ingredients.  Shake until chilled, strain into a glass filled with ice.  Garnish.
