October has begun and with it comes 5 Halloween inspired cocktails. A lot of people like to go for the gore/serial killer filled movies. We rather enjoy classic Hitchcock films, psychological thrillers and even a few campy kiddie movies for fun. What ever your preference, we hope you'll whip up one of our up coming cocktails and enjoy this month of thrills and chills.
Tonight, we kick off with The Addams Family. Not the scariest halloween movie (or television show) to draw inspiration from but they are entertaining and family friendly. While you're children are busy watching the movie you and your spouse can enjoy a his & hers cocktail named after the original ghoulish couple, Morticia & Gomez Addams. And I promise, they're not made from real girl scouts.
His Ingredients - Gomez
1 1/2 oz Rye Whiskey
1 oz POMegranate juice
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
1/2 oz Fresh lemon juice
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice.
Her Ingredients - Morticia
1 1/2 oz Tequila
1 1/2 oz Fresh lime juice
1/2 oz Grenadine (preferably homemade)
3 Dashes Orange bitters
Black Lava Sea Salt for rim (or Kosher)
Dip the rim of your glass in lime juice then into a plate of black lava salt to coat the rim. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice add remaining ingredients. Shake until chilled. Strain into your prepared glass.
Homemade Grenadine
Combine equal amounts pomegranate juice and sugar in a sauce pan over medium-low heat. Continuously stir until the sugar dissolves. Continue to cook until the syrup starts to thicken slightly. Allow to cool. Pour into a sterilized glass jar. Will keep, covered, for a month in the fridge.
