His & Hers Cocktails - Bronx & Monkey Gland

Ok, I'm just going to go ahead and apologize for one of today's cocktails.  I don't make the names, just the cocktails.

Despite the name and the lurid history surrounding the Monkey Gland cocktail, it really is delicious.  It was created in the 1920's by Harry MacElhone at Harry's New York Bar in Paris.  It's named after Dr. Serge Vornoff's scientific theory that one could increase longevity by grafting monkey testicle tissue into humans.  Again, apologizes.  Who knows, maybe this will come up on your next trivia night....Also, absinthe, a anise flavored liqueur, can be off putting to some palates.  If you're not sure you like it, I would suggest only using a dash or two of absinthe to start.

Ok, let's get to the cocktails.

His Cocktail - Bronx (on the left with blue coaster)
1 1/2 oz London Dry Gin (Tanqueray)
3/4 oz Fresh orange juice
1 tsp Dry French Vermouth
1 tsp Sweet Italian Vermouth

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice add all ingredients.  Shake until chilled.  Strain into a coupe glass.
