His & Hers Cocktails - Tabernacle Crush & The Dangerous Beauty

This weeks cocktails are two fold.  They'll help you use the last of your summer produce and will help cool you down since summer is working overtime this year.

Thanks in part to our local farmers market, the wife found some perfectly ripe peaches that she couldn't pass up.  We had some mint and basil that stills growing, some how, in the backyard.  Of course gin and Lillet are always stocked in our home.  We thought now was the best time to try the Tabernacle Crush.  Though we're not big fans of fruity drinks we think this one brings the flavor without all the sweetness.  The Dangerous Beauty comes from Hunter Johnson out of Roanoke, VA and the name says it all!  And as always, we did cut back on the amount of simple syrup used.

His Cocktail - Tabernacle Crush
1/2 large peach sliced
6 basil leaves, plus more for garnish
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 ounce gin
1 ounce Lillet
1/2 ounce simple syrup
Club soda

In a tall glass, muddle the peach, basil and lemon juice.  Add the gin, Lillet, simple syrup and stir.  Add ice and top with club soda.  Garnish.

Her Cocktail - The Dangerous Beauty
2 ounces London Dry gin
3/4 ounce Lillet
3/4 ounce simple syrup
3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
2 dashes orange bitters
3 mint sprigs
Orange peel garnish

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine all ingredients except the garnish.  Shake until chilled.  Strain into a collins glass filled with ice.  Garnish.

Happy drinking!
