Is there anything better than a rum cocktail when hot, sticky, never ending weather hits? Aside from a/c....no. There's something about the combination of rum, orgeat and citrus that just screams relaxation and vacation vibes. With a stress free weekend ahead, I can't think of a better way to kick things off!
His Cocktail - The Tropics
1 1/2 oz White rum
1 1/2 oz Fresh grapefruit juice
1/2 oz Orgeat syrup
Several dashes aromatic bitters (Angostura used)
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice add the rum, grapefruit juice and orgeat. Shake until chilled. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Shake as much aromatic bitters you would like on top.
Her Cocktail - Bakewell Punch (Ben Reed)
1 lime wedge (squeeze and drop into shaker)
5 Raspberries
1 1/4 oz White rum
1 1/4 oz Fresh pink grapefruit juice
2 tsp Simpe syrup
2 tsp Orgeat syrup
Lime wheel garnish
Muddle the lime wedge and raspberries in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and add the rest of the ingredients. Shake until chilled. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish.
